adidas ZX 8000 C (1989)

A defining moment for adidas ZX. The adidas ZX 8000C introduced the top-of-the-range Torsion system, a pioneering biomechanical running technology. It worked with independent motion of the heel and forefoot for greater stability and control. This second adidas ZX series enabled better performance through vertical alignment of the heel, Achilles tendon, and the lower leg.

The groundbreaking Torsion design created the first sports shoe that adapted to the movements of the foot with three ranges specifically for different needs: "S" or support models for pronation, "G" or guidance models for supination, and "C" models for elite cushioning. The adidas ZX 8000C model changed the direction of running footwear, designed for maximum levels of cushioning.
